Too many survivors leave abusive relationships only to find themselves facing continued abuse through the family court system. They are forced to return to court repeatedly to fight for the safety and best interests of their children, even after presenting clear evidence of coercive control, psychological abuse, and other patterns of domestic violence. In too many cases, children's own voices and disclosures of harm are not given the weight they deserve.
Our justice system should protect survivors and children—not become another avenue for continued abuse.
As your United States Senator, I will fight for federal policies that strengthen survivor protections and improve accountability throughout the family court system, including:
Every survivor deserves a justice system that recognizes the realities of abuse. Every child deserves to be safe, heard, and protected. Family courts should never become a tool that enables continued coercive control. We must build a system that prioritizes accountability, transparency, and the well-being of America's children.
Rising healthcare costs are making it increasingly difficult for families to afford the care they need. For many Americans, even routine preventive care and necessary sick visits have become financial burdens. Too often, families are forced to delay treatment, skip appointments, or choose between healthcare and other essential household expenses.
Mental health care, therapy, and evidence-based holistic and integrative healthcare services remain out of reach for many because of limited insurance coverage and high out-of-pocket costs. When people cannot access preventive care or early intervention, health conditions often become more serious and more expensive to treat.
As your United States Senator, I will support policies that:
Healthcare should focus on keeping people healthy—not simply treating illness after it becomes a crisis. Every American deserves access to affordable, high-quality care that supports their physical, mental, and long-term well-being.
As a Naval Architect and Marine Engineer, I understand what it takes to build America's maritime future. Delaware is uniquely positioned to become a leader in both offshore wind development and the revitalization of our nation's shipbuilding industry. By investing in these sectors, we can create thousands of high-quality jobs, strengthen our economy, and enhance our national security.
The expansion of offshore wind presents an opportunity to grow clean, reliable energy while creating long-term careers in engineering, manufacturing, construction, logistics, port operations, and skilled trades. I will work to support responsible investments that expand America's green energy infrastructure, strengthen domestic supply chains, and ensure these projects deliver lasting economic benefits to Delaware communities.
At the same time, America is making renewed investments in rebuilding the Navy and strengthening the nation's maritime industrial base. Delaware has a proud maritime heritage and can once again play an important role in supporting shipbuilding, ship repair, advanced manufacturing, marine engineering, and the defense supply chain. By attracting new maritime businesses and expanding partnerships with industry and government, we can help meet our nation's shipbuilding needs while creating well-paying jobs here at home.
My priorities include:
Delaware can lead the next generation of American maritime growth. By combining clean energy innovation with a stronger Navy industrial base, we can create good-paying jobs, strengthen our economy, support our national defense, and secure a more sustainable future for generations to come.
As a mother of three daughters, I know firsthand the difficult choices too many American families are forced to make. More than once, I had to return to work just weeks after giving birth because my family couldn't afford for me to stay home longer. No parent should have to choose between their financial stability and their physical recovery, mental health, or time to bond with a newborn.
Today's economy has made these challenges even greater. Healthcare costs continue to rise, housing and everyday expenses have increased, and many households now depend on two incomes just to make ends meet. At the same time, paid family leave remains unavailable for millions of workers, and many childcare providers do not accept infants until they are several months old. For families without nearby relatives or a strong support network, these realities create impossible situations.
America's policies should reflect the needs of today's families—not the assumptions of generations past. We cannot continue to build a system that depends on every new parent having family members available to provide childcare or financial support. Many families simply don't have that option.
As your United States Senator, I will work to:
Strong families build strong communities. By investing in paid family leave, affordable childcare, and maternal health, we can give parents the support they need during one of the most important times in their lives while strengthening our economy for generations to come.
Every child learns differently, yet our education system too often expects every student to succeed in the same environment and at the same pace. We need to embrace innovation in education and give schools the flexibility to adopt evidence-based approaches that help every child reach their full potential.
From kindergarten through second grade, I attended a traditional public school where I struggled behaviorally and academically. After being expelled, my mother enrolled me in a Montessori charter school. That decision changed my life.
In a child-centered learning environment, I found confidence, independence, and a genuine love of learning. I went from feeling excluded to becoming part of a supportive community. One of my Montessori teachers remains an important part of my life today because of the lasting impact that educational experience had on me.
Montessori education emphasizes academic excellence while also developing problem-solving, collaboration, emotional intelligence, leadership, and practical life skills. Students learn at their own pace, gaining independence while teachers guide and support individual growth. This approach can benefit students across the learning spectrum—from those who need additional time and support to those who are ready to move ahead. It also creates more inclusive classrooms that can better serve many neurodiverse learners by recognizing that children have different strengths and learning styles.
Today, there are only a limited number of public Montessori schools across the United States, and many families must rely on lottery systems for admission. Parents should have greater access to innovative educational models that have demonstrated success for many students.
As your United States Senator, I will support policies that:
Education should prepare students not only for tests, but for life. By investing in innovation, strengthening special education, expanding career pathways, and empowering teachers with new tools, we can build an education system that recognizes every child's potential and prepares the next generation to succeed in an ever-changing world.
Every American deserves to live authentically, safely, and with equal protection under the law. No one should have to live in fear of discrimination because of who they are or whom they love.
Growing up, I watched my father live much of his life in the closet, carrying the weight of hiding his true self. He struggled with anger and the emotional toll that came from believing he couldn't be open about his sexual orientation. As an adult, he finally embraced who he was, and I watched him become a happier, more authentic version of himself. That experience showed me firsthand how powerful acceptance can be—and how damaging fear, stigma, and discrimination can be.
My background in the performing arts and as a professional dancer also introduced me to people from many different backgrounds, identities, and walks of life. The arts taught me the value of creativity, individuality, empathy, and community. They reinforced something I have carried with me throughout my life: our differences are not weaknesses—they are part of what makes our communities stronger.
Yet today, we are living through a time when too many Americans feel increasingly divided and judged rather than understood. Instead of moving toward greater acceptance, we often find ourselves retreating into fear, polarization, and assumptions about one another. We can disagree on ideas while still recognizing one another's dignity and humanity.
As your United States Senator, I will support equal rights protections that ensure every American is treated fairly under the law, including protections against discrimination in employment, housing, education, healthcare, public accommodations, and other areas of daily life. I believe our laws should safeguard equal opportunity while respecting the fundamental freedoms guaranteed by our Constitution.
America is strongest when every person has the freedom to contribute their talents, pursue their dreams, and live without fear of discrimination. We move forward together by protecting equal rights, promoting mutual respect, and building a nation where every individual is treated with dignity.
